Dalla nascita del mito, negli anni Trenta, sino al disincanto del dopoguerra, un molteplice gioco di rimandi, di allusioni e di echi linguistici stringe i contributi critici di Pavese sulla letteratura americana alla sua opera creativa, all’insegna di quella «splendida monotonia» da lui stesso teorizzata in un tardo scritto di poetica. / This volume analyses the relationship between Pavese and America, which so far has been more hinted at than investigated systematically. From the birth of the American myth in the ‘30s until the postwar disillusion, a complex play of references, hints and linguistic echoes ties Pavese’s critical contributions on American literature to his creative work, in the spirit of the “splendid monotony” he theorized in a late paper on poetics.
