I due ultimi capitoli indagano possibili rapporti tra La Wally e il Puccini novecentesco della Fanciulla del West. / Alfredo Catalani versus his fellow citizen Giacomo Puccini: the volume reconstructs the two composers’ biographies through contemporary press, then describes the challenge between Edgar and Loreley and, in more depth, that between Manon Lescaut and La Wally, showing the importance of the «Legacy of Wagner» mentioned by Catalani in this competition. The last two chapters investigate into the possible relationship between La Wally and twentieth century Puccini’s opera La fanciulla del West.
